FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method for adsorption-catalytic purification of water from chloroaromatic compounds involves two successive steps: extraction of chloroaromatic compounds from an aqueous medium using an adsorbent catalyst; hydrodechlorination of organochlorine compounds adsorbed in the porous space of adsorbent catalysts with molecular hydrogen. The adsorbent catalyst used is characterised by bifunctional properties - as an adsorbent of chloroaromatic compounds from aqueous solutions and as a catalyst for hydrodechlorination of chloroaromatic compounds. Said catalyst contains a palladium active component deposited on porous carbon material in amount of not more than 1.0 wt %.
EFFECT: obtaining commercially valuable aromatic products for chemical industry; high sorption capacity of adsorbent catalysts enables efficient elimination of effects of accidental emission of chloroaromatic compounds into natural and man-made water bodies, where said compounds are in an aqueous medium, in dissolved state as well as in form of a water-organic emulsion.
