FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to growing plant material which requires light for proliferation, such as aquatic plants. The bioreactor has a rack and several long containers with a translucent wall. The containers are placed horizontally on the shelves of the rack with spacing between them and are partially filled with growing medium with formation of a surface on which biological material grows. The bioreactor has at least one light source fitted on the rack directly on or between containers for illuminating the latter. The method of growing plant material is realised using the said bioreactor and during proliferation of the material, one parametre such as temperature, pH of the medium, level of the medium, gas pressure and gas concentration is automatically measured and controlled. The air around the container is conditioned in order to control temperature inside it. Growing medium is drained after filling the container.
EFFECT: invention enables growing of biological materials in a relatively sterile medium, increasing output during production of biopharmaceutical substances.
