FIELD: mining.

SUBSTANCE: rock samples are taken, and chemical composition of hydrates is identified. Based on results of hydrates chemical composition identification, samples corresponding to methane hydrates are selected. Thermobaric parametres of samples in area of their deposit are compared to thermobaric parametres of methane formation of hydrates. Based on results of comparison, samples are detected, in which methane hydrates in area of their picking, are in preserved condition. Values of frozen rocks paleotemperatures are established on the basis of determination of balance temperatures of methane hydrates formation in compliance with the diagram of methane hydrates condition.

EFFECT: improved reliability and simplified determination of paleotemperatures in frozen rocks of various genesis.
