FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: uranium compounds in a mixture with hydrated manganese dioxide of the cryptomelane type are exposed to microtron deceleration radiation. The mean path of the uranium-237 recoil nucleus enables their release from the parent substance and implantation into particles of the acceptor substance which is cryptomelane. After exposure, the target is treated with water in order to dissolve the initial uranium compound. Cryptomelane residue which contains the uranium-237 recoil nucleus is separated and dissolved in the presence of a reducing agent. Uranium-237 is extracted from the solution using conventional radiochemical methods.
EFFECT: obtaining a preparation of uranium-237 isotope with high specific activity and radioisotope purity.
