METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR PLATYPODIA DIAGNOSIS IN CHILDREN AND ADOLESCENTS Russian patent published in 2010 - IPC A61B5/107

Abstract RU 2403863 C2

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions refers to medicine and can be applied for platypodia diagnosis in children and adolescents. The height and length of the foot arch are determined by an apparatus that enables the quantitative recording of the height of an apex of the inferointerior edge of the navicular bone and the centre distance of maximum loaded regions of the head of the first metatarsal bone and calcaneal bone. The height to length relation of the foot arch (K) is calculated. If K=0.43-0.55, the foot arch is considered to be normal, if K=0.56-0.84, platypodia of I degree is diagnosed, K=0.85-2.1 shows paltypodia of II degree, while K=2.2 and more enables to diagnose platypodia of III degree. An apparatus for platypodia diagnosis in children and adolescents comprises a podoscope with an upper plass plane and a mirror, two parallel scaled rules moving freely on guides and fastened under the upper glass plane of the podoscope to record the centre distance of maximum loaded regions of the mirrored head of the first metatarsal bone and calcaneal bone, and a vertical scaled probe arranged in the middle of the upper surface of the podoscope to record the height of the apex of the inferointerior edge of the navicular bone.

EFFECT: group of inventions allows higher diagnostic reliability.
