SUBSTANCE: method for synthesis of dihydrate of 3-(2,2,2-trimethylhydrazinium)-propionate involves separation of a mixture obtained after alkaline hydrolysis of trimethylhydrazinium methylpropionate bromide and separation of potassium bromide, wherein after separation of KBr the mixture is treated with orthophosphoric acid and a mixture of mono- and disubstituted ammonium phosphate, and the obtained suspension of potassium phosphates in an aqueous solution of phosphates of trimethylhydrazinium-propionate is filtered, thereby extracting potassium phosphate from the solution which contains trimethylhydrazinium propionate phosphate, trimethylhydrazinium propionate phosphate is crystallised out by cooling, filtered and then suspended in isopropanol after washing with isopropanol. The trimethylhydrazinium propionate phosphate suspension in isopropanol is then treated with ammonia. Disubstituted ammonium phosphate ((NH₄)₂HPO₄) is extracted from a solution containing monohydrate of trimethylhydrazinium propionate and then recycled. The solution of monohydrate of trimethylhydrazinium propionate in isopropyl alcohol is cooled and by adding water, the hydrate of 3-(2,2,2-trimethylhydrazinium)-propionate is converted to a dihydrate of 3-(2,2,2-trimethylhydrazinium)-propionate; the obtained compound is used in medicine and agriculture.
