FIELD: pharmaceutical organic chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing 3-(2,2,2-trimethylhydrazinium)propionate dihydrate, which is a metabolic improving agent, and its subsequent purification. The method is carried out by reacting salt and potassium hydroxide in a solution of ethyl alcohol in a molar ratio of 1:1.05–2.15. The resulting 3-(2,2,2-trimethylhydrazinium)propionate is treated with orthophosphoric acid until the reaction mass reaches pH=3. 3-(2,2,2-trimethylhydrazinium)methylpropionate bromide is used as the starting salt, and then the resulting 3-(2,2,2-trimethylhydrazinium)propionate phosphate is treated with potassium hydroxide in ethyl alcohol, the excess ethyl alcohol is distilled off, the product is dissolved in absolute isopropyl alcohol, the solution is cleaned from impurities using activated carbon and isolate 3-(2,2,2-trimethylhydrazinium)propionate by washing it with chilled isopropyl alcohol.

EFFECT: proposed method allows to increase the yield of the target product.
