FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metal forming, particularly to production of railroad wheels from ingot or continuously cast billets. Billet is heated, process cushion fill is applied thereon, billet is preliminary upset, canted for 180°, finally upset, chased, formed, rolled and bending of produced wheel. Final upsetting and chasing is performed in one pass on the press with the help of top shaped plate. Prior to upsetting and chasing, the billet is centered in calibration ring along the billet lateral surface outline formed after preliminary upsetting. Relation between biller maximum diametre after preliminary upsetting and minimum diametre of calibration ring makes 1.0-1.04.
EFFECT: simplified process and higher efficiency.
