FIELD: information technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a coding/decoding method and device, more specifically to a coding/decoding device which processes an audio signal in order to create three-dimensional (3D) sound effects. The decoding method involves extraction of a step-down mixing 3D signal and spatial information from an input bit stream; removal of 3D effects from the step-down mixing 3D signal by performing 3D reproduction operations on the said 3D signal; and generation of a multichannel signal using the spatial information and step-down mixing signal obtained from said removal.
EFFECT: possibility of efficiently coding mutichannel signals with 3D effects and additively restore and playback audio signals with optimum audio quality in accordance with characteristics of the playback medium.
