SUBSTANCE: in the audio decoding method, a third step-down mixing signal is generated by merging a first step-down mixing signal extracted from a first audio signal with a second step-down mixing signal extracted form a second audio signal. Third object-oriented additional information is generated by merging first object-oriented additional information extracted from the first audio signal with second object-oriented additional information extracted from the second audio signal. The third object-oriented additional information is converted to channel-oriented additional information, and a multichannel audio signal is generated using a third step-down mixing signal and the channel-oriented additional information.

EFFECT: design of a method and a device for encoding and decoding audio signals, in which sound patterns will be localised in any required position for each object audio signal.
