FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of construction materials, in particular to production of porous aggregates based on liquid glass, meant for making light concrete, as well as fill insulation. The method of preparing water-resistant porous aggregate involves preparation of a raw mixture based on liquid sodium glass, additives - sodium chloride and fine filler by mixing the components, granulation and expanding the granules, thermal treatment and cooling. Liquid sodium glass used in the raw mixture has density of 1.41 g/cm3; sodium chloride is ground to particle size of 0.3 mm, and the fine filler is finely ground wastes from coal beneficiation through floatation, containing not less than 71% clay component, with the following content of components, wt %: liquid sodium glass 50-75, sodium chloride 1-3, coal beneficiation wastes 22-49. Thermal treatment is carried out at 780-800°C for 7-10 minutes, and cooling is carried out at a rate of not more than 40°C per minute.
EFFECT: high water resistance of the aggregate, with retention of low density.
