FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: items out of powder steel are loaded into container with charge containing 30 % of chromium of "Х99" grade, 20 % of ferrosilicon "ФС75", 20 % of manganese of "ФМн90", 28 % of Al2O3 and 2 % of activator NH4Cl. The container is placed into a furnace and is maintained to achieve diffusion of chromium and silicon into an iron matrix and to form a diffusion layer of 800-850 mcm thickness and a near surface layer of carbide of 200 mcm thickness.
EFFECT: upgraded corrosion and heat resistance of items and reduced capital expenditures for their production.
