FIELD: food industry, tobacco.
SUBSTANCE: porous carbon material is intended for addition to smoke-arresting cigarette filters and has a BET surface area equal to at least 800 m2/g and a porous structure containing mezopores and micropores. The volume of the pores measured by nitrogen absorption is at least 0.9 cm3/g with 15 - 65% of the pores volume falling to the share of mezopores. The material porous structure ensures volumetric density is generally less than 0.5 g/cm3. The material may be produced by way of carbonisation and activation of organic resins and may be shaped in the form of balls for simple handling.
EFFECT: creation of a porous carbon material especially efficient for reduction of content of one or several harmful components of tobacco smoke.
