FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: ampholyte polymer is obtained through radical copolymerisation, carried out using a method of polymerisation with precipitation of a polymer of at least one compound capable of radical polymerisation of an α, β-ethylene-unsaturated bond and at least one anionogenic and/or anion group in a molecule of at least one N-vinylimidazole compound and/or at least one compound capable of radical polymerisation of an α, β-ethylene-unsaturated bond and at least one cationogenic and/or cation group in a molecule of at least one cross linking compound capable of radical polymerisation, where the said cross linking compound contains at least two α, β-ethylene-unsaturated bonds in the molecule. Monomers with ionogenic or ion groups are used for copolymerisation in such amounts that molar excess of anionogenic/anion groups with respect to cationogenic/cation groups or cationogenic/cation groups with respect to anionogenic/ion groups in the copolymer is at least equal to 2.5:1.
EFFECT: copolymer is suitable for use as solvent for components which are insoluble or partially soluble in water and has optimum compatibility with other components.
