SUBSTANCE: method of optimising operation of thermal engine controlled by electronic or digital system using at least one parametre or one law, or one table for injection, combustion or additional treatment, comprises analysing fuel composition on the basis of data of at least one pickup incorporated with engine fuel system comprising priming system, tank, fuel pumps, fuel filters, engine fuel feed and return flow into tank, and selecting or varying aforesaid parametres, or law, or table for injection, combustion or additional treatment depending upon the result of aforesaid analysis. Stage of fuel composition analysis comprises determining fuel molecular structure including spectroscopic analysis of molecular structure of hydrocarbons contained in fuel.
EFFECT: possibility of selecting type of measuring fuel quality with due allowance for fuel-engine interaction.
