FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: method of detecting reflected laser radiation involves generation of double-mode laser radiation, directing said radiation onto an analysed object and injection of radiation reflected by the analysed object into a laser to form resultant laser radiation. The double-mode laser radiation with frequency values ν1 and ν2 is generated with splitting ν1221 in the range from 1 MHz to 50 MHz. The distance D between the laser and the analysed object is modulated by giving it in accordance with the condition D≠(c/2ν12)k, where k is an integer (k=0, 1, 2, 3…), c is light velocity, and characteristics of the analysed object are determined by the resultant laser radiation picked up.
