FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: catalytic oxidation of hydrogen chloride with molecular oxygen is carried out at 275-450°C in the presence of catalysts in form of vanadates of ammonia, potassium or sodium and potassium sulphate, deposited on silica gel. The silica gel has specific surface area of 80-800 m2/g, pore volume of 0.3-4.5 ml/g, particle size of 0.1-10 mm. Components of the catalyst are in the following ratio, wt % of the total weight of the catalyst: vanadates of ammonia, potassium or sodium 2-20, potassium sulphate 2-35, silica gel - the rest.
EFFECT: high rate of oxidation of hydrogen chloride, retention of high rate of oxidation at low temperature, high conversion of hydrogen chloride into the end product.
