FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in synthesis of organochloride compounds, halogens for regenerating chlorine from hydrogen chloride wastes. Catalytic oxidation of hydrogen chloride with molecular oxygen is carried out at 275-450°C in the presence of catalysts in form of vanadates of ammonia, potassium or sodium, lithium chloride and potassium sulphate deposited on silica gel. The silica gel has specific surface area of 80-800 m2/g, pore volume of 0.3-4.5 ml/g, particle size of 0.1-10 mm. Components of the catalyst are in the following ratio, wt % of the total weight of the catalyst: vanadates of ammonia, potassium or sodium 2-20, lithium chloride 1-20, potassium sulphate 2-35, silica gel - the rest.
EFFECT: invention increases the rate of oxidation of hydrogen chloride by 20-80 times, enables to maintain high rate of oxidation at low temperature of the process of up to 275 °C.
