FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: method of stabilising hydrogen sulphide- and mercaptan-containing oil involves heating said oil and distillation in two series-operating columns fitted with contact and discharge apparatus, supplying vapour spraying down and liquid spraying up the columns, outlet of distillate from the top of the columns and separation thereof into stabilisation gas and condensate via cooling and separation, outlet of stable residues from the bottom of the column and obtaining stable oil through mixture thereof. The process is carried out at absolute pressure in the columns equal to 0.1-0.2 MPa, oil temperature of 120-160°C in the presence of a stripping agent in the first column using contact plates lying lower the input of raw materials and having minimal dimensions of cut elements, with double depth discharge apparatus.

EFFECT: obtaining commercial-grade oil which meets modern requirements for the stability factor and degree of purity from hydrogen sulphide and light mercaptans.
