FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: procedure consists in calculation of roller in accordance with expected load and with consideration of equipment for roller operation, in fabrication of at least one main part (1) and at least one end part (2, 3) of roller. Also, at least one of the above said parts is fabricated by casting and/or by forging. Further, the procedure consists in detecting defects in the structure of the roller, and in removal of central defects in main part (1) of the roller by making an axial central channel. Size of the channel is chosen in accordance with dimension and position of revealed defects. Also, if necessary, the procedure consists in removing central defects in end part (2, 3) cutting the axial central channel, dimension of which is chosen in accordance with dimension and position of revealed defects. The support roller is formed by axial connection of parts (1, 2, 3). The channel in main part (1) has diametre corresponding to 0.5-1.5, preferably, 0.8-1 of the least external diametre of end part (2, 3).
EFFECT: increased processability of fabrication of big support rollers.
