FIELD: lengthwise rolling in ferrous and non-ferrous metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: invention realizes rolling process in rolling stand with mutually opposite motion of rolling rolls after metal biting. Rolling stand includes two frames, rolls with bearings, cartridges. Each cartridge supports chocks of one roll mounted in it with possibility of rotation in horizontal plane around center being crossing point of roll axes and actuator for such rotation. Each cartridge embraces outer faces of struts of both frames with movable contact along their cylindrical surface. Said cartridge is in the form of builtup chassis with two fork-like protrusions entering windows of frames with gap and forming movable joint assembly with roll chocks. EFFECT: enlarged possibilities of schedule free rolling process, lowered loads of roll bearings, enhanced working capacity of rolls. 6 cl, 6 dwg
