FIELD: physics, radio navigation.
SUBSTANCE: apparatus for adaptive seismic direction finding of objects relates to security equipment and can be used to determine the azimuth on a detected object when guarding extended sections of an area, territories and approach routes to objects. The apparatus has two seismic receivers, a low-pass filter for first and second channels, compensating delay lines for the first and second channels, a difference function calculator, a smoothing filter, a threshold calculator, a threshold device, switches for the fist and second channels, delay lines for the first and second channels, n correlators and a decision device. To reduce the error in measuring the azimuth using the direction finder, adaptive processing of seismic signals, which involves picking up useful signals from seismic noise, is used. High frequency components of the noise signal are removed by low-pass filters. To remove low frequency components of the background signal, the principle of separating useful and noise signals in time is employed, which is realised based on comparing current absolute values of the difference between signals of two seismic receivers with a threshold value which is calculated based on the noise signal.
EFFECT: reduced errors in measuring the azimuth on an object and increase in the size of the working area of the direction finder.
