SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of processing materials and articles for use in atomic reactor cores. The method of preparing materials and articles for use in neutron fields involves exposure of materials and articles to effects which result in their deformation and increase in their radiation resistance. When preparing materials and articles using this method, said materials and articles are exposed to a jet of liquid flowing at not less than 1000 m/s. The jet of liquid is formed mainly by an electric discharge or pulsed electric discharges with voltage of 8-30 kV. The liquid used is mainly water.
EFFECT: possibility of preparing not only material workpieces (plates, pipes, belts), but finished articles as well (for example fuel cells, spacer grids) for use in neutron fields, as well as processing local sites on articles.
