FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to roll mill stand and method of axial transfer of rolls. Proposed stand comprises, at least, one roll pair arranged in it foundation, drive shafts, particularly, articulated shafts to drive rolls, and coupling to engage drive shafts with rolls. At least, one drive shaft comprises, at least, one actuator that makes its integral part to axially displace the shaft and vary its axial length. Note here that roll may be coupled with drive shaft for roll to be axially displaced by said actuator. In compliance with proposed method, roll axial displacement is performed by axial displacement of the shaft movable part, and joint axial displacement of the shaft fixed and movable parts. Note here that axial displacement is effected by shaft movable part that acts as a drive.
EFFECT: simplified design, fast and precise axial displacement of shaft.
