FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the technology of producing sulphur-containing organic compounds, particularly synthesis of methanesulphonic acid (CH3SO3H) through electrolysis of 1.0-4.0 M aqueous solution of dimethylsulphonic acid in a diaphragmless cell in the presence of methanesulphonic acid as background electrolyte at current density of 0.12-0.18 A/cm2.
EFFECT: simplification of the process and increase in efficiency of synthesis of methanesulphonic acid in a diaphragmless cell by avoiding an additional reagent and increasing output owing to use of higher anode current density.
