FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to make singe- and multi-mode infrared optical waveguides for the 2-45 mcm spectral range through extrusion. The optical monocrystal is made from a solid solution of silver bromide - thallium (I) iodide, with the following ratio of components, wt %: silver bromide 99.5-90; silver iodide 0.5-10.0.
EFFECT: design of a monocrystal which is transparent in the 0,35-45,0 mcm spectral range, wider transparency range of the monocrystal, increase in hardness and resistance to visible, UV, infrared and radioactive radiation and increase in refraction index.
