FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: procedure for strengthening carbon fibres consists in heat treatment in two stages including heating to temperature 500-1200°C and successive cooling to 30-100°C during 1.5-15 min. Also, heating and cooling are performed in inert atmosphere by drawing fibres through a gradient furnace containing different temperature zones at rate of motion 2-25 cm/min.
EFFECT: production of carbon fibres of 1,4-1,7 times increased strength.
