FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: vocal slat for pneumatic reed instrument comprises a frame with apertures and two pairs of aperture valves and vocal reeds which are rigidly attached to the base of the frame on two sides. The attachment is such that the first aperture valve and the first vocal reed lie on the same side of the frame with possibility of closing the first and second apertures, respectively, and the second aperture valve and the second vocal reed lie on the other side with possibility of closing the second and first aperture valves, respectively. The first aperture valve is placed opposite the second vocal reed and the first vocal reed is opposite the second aperture valve. The second aperture valve is made from leather, for example lycra, and the vocal reed and the frame are made from metal. One or more superimposed elastic plates made from a (50-125) mcm thick synthetic film are attached to the outer side of the each of the aperture valves at the base. The first elastic plate on the side of the aperture valve has the size of the said valve, and each next elastic plate is shorter than the previous by (25-30)%.
EFFECT: design of a vocal slat which increases time for quality sounding of pneumatic reed instruments.
