FIELD: gas-and-oil producing industry.

SUBSTANCE: pipe elevator consists of case, of flap pivotally connected to case with axle and of locking device. Also the locking device includes a gripping unit made in form of a frame with vertical poles and of rotating mechanism positioned on the flap of the elevator. The rotating mechanism contains a spring-loaded shaft with a handle and of a carrier with rollers installed in a cartridge and interconnected by means of a pin: the rollers turn relative to each other.

EFFECT: increased safety, reliability and service life of elevator.
