FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to chemistry and can be used in removing boron, phosphorus and ethylene impurities from hydrogen. The method involves passing a stream of contaminated hydrogen through a fixed or fluidised layer of powdered magnesium or aluminium or mixture thereof, or a mixture of magnesium and/or aluminium with fine grained titanium or alloys thereof at temperature 500-1000°C. The powder used is a mixture of magnesium or aluminium with a titanium alloy which contains 0.1-36 wt % magnesium or aluminium or zirconium. The titanium alloy used is an alloy of titanium with iron, nickel or cobalt. The powder has particle size of 0.1-5000 mcm.
EFFECT: invention increases efficiency of purifying hydrogen.
