PROCEDURE FOR PRODUCTION OF MANGANESE AGGLOMERATE FOR DIRECT ALLOYING STEEL WITH MANGANESE Russian patent published in 2011 - IPC C22B1/16

FIELD: metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: procedure consists in mixing concentrate of carbonate manganese ore with flux additives and with coke, in pelletising, in loading prepared charge on layer of recycled material preliminary laid on fire bars of agglo-machine, in sintering layer of charge and in cooling by through-suction with cool air. Additionally into charge there is introduced barium containing material formed during sintering with temperature 1400-1450°C, and barium phosphide after reaction of formed barium oxide with manganese phosphide in manganese concentrate. Consumption of barium containing material is selected from ratio of contents of phosphorus in concentrate to contents of barium in barium containing material equal to 0.65-0.70. Surface of sintered layer in the process of sintering is blown with air-oxygen mixture containing 35-40 % of oxygen during first 10-15 % of time of total process of sintering.

EFFECT: preventing entry of phosphorus into steel during direct alloying thus upgrading quality of steel.
