FIELD: process engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to catalysts intended for production of carbon nanotubes. Proposed metal oxide catalysts comprise transition metal compounds and more than one phase of aluminium and magnesium oxide compounds. Note here that transition metal compound is represented by two or three atoms of metal selected from the group consisting of iron, cobalt and molybdenum, while relation between transition metal atoms present in catalyst in large amount and sum of transition metal atoms in catalyst in minor amount makes 1:0.1 to 1:0.805. Note here that atomic ratio between sum of transition metal to that of aluminium and magnesium in catalysts makes 0.02 to 1.5, while atomic ratio of magnetic to sum of aluminium and magnesium in catalyst makes 0.1 to 0.95.

EFFECT: high yield of carbon nanotubes.
