FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to ferrous metallurgy and may be used at CCM-WSM complex to reduce power consumption in strip hot-rolling. Proposed method comprises steel casting into slabs, transfer of slabs onto stand, heating slabs in continuous furnace with walking beams, deforming hot slabs at roughing stands and then, at finishing stands, and coiling strips into rolls. Reduction of fuel and power consumption and higher process efficiency result from the production of equal-length slabs in casting at wide strip stand, from casting equal-width and different-thickness slabs, reducing thickness of slabs fed for casting and squeezing at roughing stands, or decreasing the number of passes in reversing roughing stand.
EFFECT: reduced fuel and power consumption, higher efficiency.
