FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: proposed invention relates to arc welding and building up of metal parts. Composite coat applied onto metal rod comprises nanotubes with activating flux fitted in their inner space and uniformly distributed in metal matrix volume. Hygroscopic compounds of activating flux are isolated from contact with metal matrix atmosphere and nanotubes walls. Composite wire may contain metal coat applied on metal rod surface and/or composite coat surface. Coat activating components stabilise welding arc and increase its fusion ability to increase fusion depth and welding efficiency.
EFFECT: composite coat higher electric and heat conductivity, hence, reliable contact with current conducting torch tip at higher welding currents.
