FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to light panels with butt-end input of radiation and enables to obtain light panels which are cheap, comfortable to view with eyes, uniform on the radiating surface and which have a light-emitting diode light source to illuminate residential and industrial facilities, and can be used in sign-boards, indicators of different information, illuminated advertisement, illumination devices for medical applications and other optical devices. The light panel has a light guide panel element, a radiation source consisting of a line of light-emitting diodes, radiation from which enters through the butt-end of the light guide panel element and diffusively scatters on its rear surface, and a diffusively scattering structure on the rear side of the light guide panel element. The method of making the light panel involves formation of a diffusively scattering structure on the rear side of the light guide panel element by a) attaching diffusively scattering powdered materials to a polymer or metal mesh; and attaching the said mesh using optically transparent adhesive to the rear side of the light guide panel element; and b) using a method for screen printing from a paste made from diffusively scattering powdered materials and optically transparent adhesives. The refraction index of the optically transparent adhesives used is greater than the refraction index of the light guide panel element.
EFFECT: high strength and uniform illumination of large areas.
