FIELD: construction.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to road signs and can be used in construction and repair of roads, city streets and park zones for controlling the movement of vehicles and pedestrians, as well as providing them with information. Invention represents a road sign with internal lighting, graphic information of which is implemented using retroreflective films with light conductivity, light is introduced through the end of the light guide plate along the entire perimeter by means of an illumination - a LED matrix located inside the sign body. For outputting light from the light-guide plate onto the front and the rear sides and balancing the brightness for all sections of these surfaces (balanced is the light intensity of the peripheral zone, where the light is introduced into the light guide plate, and the central zone of the sign - maximum remote one from the LED matrix) the light-conducting plate is applied with a special light-diffusing layer, which is a transparent compound with a refraction index equal to or greater than the refraction index of the light-guide plate, which comprises centers of dissipation, the density of which has a gradient directed towards the center of the sign (density of the dissipation centers increases as they approach to the center of the sign). On top the light-diffusing layers with gradient concentration of the dissipation centers retroreflective films are glued having light conductivity, which actually form the graphic information of the road sign. Symbols may be both double-sided, i.e., with information deposited on the front and the rear surfaces of the sign, and single-sided, i.e., with information applied only on the front (face) surface of the sign.
EFFECT: technical result is that the road sign operates not only as a normal one, due to the effect of a light flux reflection from lights of a passing motor transport, but due to own luminescence as well, id est, as a sign with internal lighting, which makes it suitable for use in places of low intensity of traffic and absence of outdoor lighting, where pedestrians must see it irrespective of availability of motor transport on the road and illumination.
