SUBSTANCE: method enables to receive commands from one or more clients of a relatively preferred format for use with the corresponding client device. The method also enables determination of subsections of a shared document based on semantic interruptions in the original document, and generation of a subsection identifier for each subsection. The subsection identifiers are sent to clients, who can view the identifiers and request one or more subsections on their corresponding device. The required subsections are transformed for use on corresponding client devices and sent to the client in accordance with their request. Clients can modify one or more subsections, and these modifications are applied to corresponding subsections on other client devices.
