FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, specifically to cardiology. Transoesophageal electrophysiological study is conducted. A left atrium is exposed to a nine-pulse train. Eight pulses are basic, St1 are spaced at 600 ms. The ninth one is an extra stimulus, St2, supplied at a programmable coupling interval St1St2. Ventricular transmission time of the eighth St1R1 and ninth St2R2 pulses is measured. Further, an atrioventricular transmission curve with Y=St2R2-St1R1 and X=St1St2 values is plotted; a secant is drawn between a point described by the coordinates 600:0 and a point of a minimum abscissa diagram; an area limited to the diagram and secant is calculated. The diagram width is defined as a difference of abscissas of its extreme points. The height is an ordinate of the point with the smallest abscissa. An index of an area over the curve (IAC) is calculated by an original formula. The derived IAC is used to predict the presence atrioventricular heart block.

EFFECT: method allows improving accuracy of atrioventricular heart block prediction with sensitivity of the method making 81,9%, and specificity 95,5%.
