FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: pure iron is treated in cycles each consisting of two stages: first iron is heated to 900-1000°C, conditioned in medium of bondjuzhskiy carburiser for 0.5-1 h and cooled in air. Further, it is heated to 900-1000°C, conditioned in air for 5-15 min and chilled in cold water. Number of cycles comes to five.
EFFECT: lowered coefficient of linear expansion of iron items.
