FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: video tilt metre has a vessel with liquid. Over the liquid, there is a lens, a light-dividing element, a light source and a position sensitive photodetector which generates a video signal with video frames, all optically connected to each other and the surface of the liquid. A mirror with a round window, whose centre lies on the optical axis of the lens, is placed between the lens and the surface of the liquid. The mirror is fixed at an angle to the base of the vessel such that images of the light source in a video frame, reflected from the mirror and the surface of the liquid, are not superimposed on each other in the entire measurement range. The diametre of the window in the mirror is determined using an appropriate formula.
EFFECT: measurement accuracy owing to stability of the spatial position of the optical axis of the lens.
