FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to ferrous metallurgy. Proposed method comprises producing interlayer of chill fusible metal alloy between ingot and mould wall that features fusion temperature of 400-700°C and heat conductivity of 100-300 W/mK, for example, silumin or magnalium. In preparing the mould, said alloy is placed in recesses made in walls of mould dozzle top and sealed by refractory mass. Mould filled with metal said alloy gets fused to squirt plug from refractory mass and to flow through the gap between ingot and mould wall.
EFFECT: reduced temperature gradient of ingot, ruling out surface defects and ingot structure inhomogeneity.
