FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of extruding polyethylene compositions from a melt through one or more active mesh filters in order to reduce the amount of gels in the melt and obtain a film with an improved outward appearance. Described is a method of producing polyethylene, which involves obtaining polyolefin with l21 value between 2 g/10 min and 100 g/10 min and density between 0.91 g/cm3 and 0.97 g/cm3. A melt of the said polyethylene is obtained and passed through one or more active mesh filters with cell size from more than 70 micrometres to 200 micrometres with mass flow rate from 5 pounds/hour/square inch (3500 kg/h/m2) to 100 pounds/hour/square inch (70000 kg/h/m2). Polyolefin which has passed through the mesh filter is then separated.
EFFECT: obtaining polyethylenes which do not contain gels and have bimoldal molecular weight distribution.
