INTEGRATRED PROCESSING OF METHANOL TO OLEFINS Russian patent published in 2011 - IPC C07C1/20 C07C11/04 C07C11/06 B01J8/04

Abstract RU 2420503 C2

FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: method comprises the following steps: (a) contacting methanol-containing material (12), where content of methanol in the material is equal to 65-100 wt %, in a methanol conversion reactor zone (14) with a catalyst and at process conditions effective to produce a methanol conversion reactor zone effluent (16) comprising dimethyl ether and water, wherein the effective conditions comprise temperature of 200-300 °C, pressure of 200-1500 kPa and mass bulks speed of 2-15 h-1; (b) removing at least a portion of water from the methanol conversion reactor zone effluent to form a first process stream (22) comprising dimethyl ether and having a reduced water content; contacting material comprising at least a portion of the first process stream in an oxygen-containing compound conversion reactor zone (26) with an oxygen-containing compound conversion catalyst at process conditions effective to convert at least a portion of the material to an oxygen-containing compound conversion product stream (30) comprising light olefins containing C2 and C3 olefins and heavy olefins containing C4+ olefins, wherein the oxygen-containing compound conversion process conditions include process pressure of at least 240 kPa (absolute) and temperature of 200-700°C; (d) reacting at least a portion (44) of the oxygen-containing compound conversion product stream heavy olefins in a heavy olefins conversion zone (46) to form a heavy olefins conversion zone effluent stream (50) comprising additional light olefins, where the heavy olefins conversion zone is either an olefin cracking zone or an olefin metathesis zone; and (e) extracting at least a portion of the additional light olefins from the heavy olefins conversion zone effluent stream, in which total amount of olefins includes the additional amount of light olefins from step (e), and in which content of propylene in the total amount of light olefins is higher than in the method which does not include steps (a) and (b) and uses methanol-containing material at step (c). The invention also relates to a apparatus for implementing the said method.

EFFECT: high relative amount of the obtained light olefins.
