FIELD: petrochemical processes. SUBSTANCE: oxygen-containing starting material stream is brought into contact with catalyst ELAPO in presence of methane diluent under conditions favoring conversion of at least part of starting material into light olefins. Reaction products are composed of water, methane, and light olefins. Water is advantageously removed and remaining reaction products are separated into methane-containing light fraction and light olefin stream.
