FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a single-step method for gas-phase synthesis of isoprene, involving reaction of formaldehyde with isobutylene, or isobutylene-containing material, or isobutylene derivatives in the presence of a catalyst, characterised by that the reaction is carried out in the presence of a solid-phase catalyst which contains phosphates selected from zirconium, niobium or tantalum phosphates.
EFFECT: invention provides high stability of the catalyst with high output of isoprene.
