FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for synthesis of isoprene by reacting methylal with isobutylene or a mixture of paraffins and C4-C5 olefin hydrocarbons containing not less than 5% isobutylene in vapour phase on a fixed layer of a boron-containing catalyst, characterised by that the process is carried out at temperature 250-450°C, pressure 3-15 atm, volume rate of feeding methylal of 0.1-1.0 liter per liter of catalyst per hour, molar ratio of supplying methylal to isobutylene equal to 1:2-10, in the presence of a compound or mixture of compounds selected from a group comprising mineral and/or organic acids, taken in amount of 0.01-10% of the mass of methylal, alcohols, ethers or water, taken in amount of 0.01-900% of each of component from the mass of methylal, and the boron-containing catalyst used is boron phosphate.
EFFECT: use of the method increases selectivity of the process, increases the catalyst inter-regeneration period, increases sanitary and environmental safety.
