FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a single-step method for gas-phase synthesis of isoprene, involving reaction of formaldehyde with isobutylene, tertbutyl alcohol, methyltertbutyl ether, ethyltertbutyl ether or mixture thereof with isobutylene in the presence of a catalyst which contains heteropolyacid or salt thereof, and is characterised by that the reaction takes place in the presence of a solid-phase catalyst containing 0.1-90 wt % heteropolyacid or salt thereof on a porous support having the composition Al2O3·(10-300)SiO2, where the process takes place in gas-phase condensation conditions at 200-450°C, atmospheric pressure, rate of feeding raw material of 0.5-15 g/ g hour and weight ratio of isobutylene to formaldehyde equal to (1-20):1.
EFFECT: method ensures high output and selectivity of producing isoprene with high degree of conversion of the starting material.
