FIELD: power industry.

SUBSTANCE: method involves preliminary charging of inert material, for example sand or chamotte to furnace. Then, natural zeolite (clinoptilolite consisting of (Na2K2)·O-Al2O3·10·SiO2·8H2O) is added to inert material in quantity of 18-22% of volume of inert material. In order to compensate for losses of zeolite, periodic addition of zeolite (one time in 2-3 days) is performed to furnace in quantity determined as per the following formula: where: MC - weight of added zeolite, kg; MF - weight of fuel burnt in the boiler of the previous zeolite addition; - necessary SO2 concentration level supported by using the method, ppm; - SO2 concentration when zeolite is absent, ppm; - stable SO2 concentration at which further increase of zeolite content does not lead to noticeable reduction of sulphur oxides, ppm; SR - reduced sulphur content, % kg/GJ.

EFFECT: reducing hazardous emissions of sulphur oxides during coal combustion in fluidised bed boilers.
