FIELD: information technology.

SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps on which a field is interpreted by a field interpreter: the field type is established; and a set of field parameters is obtained; source data are extracted with a source data extractor for that field from a first portion of the file in response to the interpretation; and converted with a mechanism for converting source data before presentation of said field using a second portion of the file for presentation in a first citation style using a first set of presentation rules; and the first set of presentation rules is replaced with a second set of presentation rules after presentation through the first citation style using the first portion of the file for presentation in a second citation style; wherein the first and second portions of the file are separate from the application and are a portion of the text processing documentation file.

EFFECT: broader functional capabilities when working with bibliographic information owing to automation of processing bibliographic information when working with multiple sources of bibliographic data in different environments.
