SUBSTANCE: disclosed mechanism enables execution of commands entered into a command line in a command line operating system in the main execution mode or alternative execution mode. A command is executed in alternative execution mode if the command contains an instruction for execution in the alternative mode. The alternative execution mode is provided by the operating environment and provides enhanced command functionalities. The alternative execution mode can visually display command execution results, visually display simulated command execution results, verification prompt before command execution, can check protection in order to determine whether the user requesting execution has sufficient privileges for executing the command etc.
